Nestled in the heart of Sayville, NY, La Tavola offers an authentic taste of Italy that beckons both casual diners and passionate food lovers alike. This Italian restaurant and takeout spot masterfully blends tradition with contemporary flair, crafting dishes that tantalize the palate and warm the soul.
La Tavola’s menu is an invitation to savor Italy’s rich culinary heritage. Start your meal with small plates like the Crispy Parmesan Herb Chicken Wings, perfectly paired with a creamy Gorgonzola black pepper dip that delivers a delightful balance of crispy, tangy, and smooth flavors. The Arancini, stuffed generously with savory sausage and melted Provolone and served with a vibrant marinara, are a must-try that transport you straight to southern Italy. Of course, no visit is complete without diving into the Grandma D’s Meatballs — tender, seasoned beef simmered in rich marinara and topped with Parmesan — a dish that customers rave about for its heartwarming, homemade taste.
For those who seek lighter fare, the fresh and crisp salads like the Fig Salad—with braised figs, pears, prosciutto, almonds, and Gorgonzola dressed in a luscious port wine vinaigrette—offer a perfect harmony of sweet and savory. Or indulge in the Mesclun Greens Salad, brightened by grape tomatoes and red onion, and dressed with a tangy balsamic vinaigrette.
Pizza lovers will find themselves spellbound by the Neapolitan Brick Oven Pizzas. The Margherita Pizza is a classic masterpiece boasting San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, sliced tomato, and fragrant basil, while the Melanzana Pizza brings together breaded eggplant, creamy ricotta, and mozzarella layered atop brick oven-roasted tomatoes for an earthy, comforting experience. For those adventurous enough, the Hot Honey & Pepperoni Pie delivers a spicy-sweet kick with chili-infused honey perfectly complementing the pepperoni and mozzarella.
The dining atmosphere at La Tavola echoes the warmth and charm of a traditional Italian trattoria. Guests frequently mention the cozy interior and inviting veranda seating, where natural light frames vibrant conversations and leisurely meals. Whether you’re celebrating a special milestone like a wedding anniversary or simply indulging in a well-deserved lunch, the ambiance enhances the entire culinary journey.
Beyond the food, the service shines with genuine attentiveness and professionalism—an aspect repeatedly praised by patrons like Stephen Powers, who admires the “perfect atmosphere” paired with great service. Leslie Volle sums it up beautifully, highlighting not only the food but also the exceptional bread that arrives steaming hot and with a delightfully crisp crust, a small yet unforgettable flourish that speaks volumes about La Tavola’s dedication to quality.
From delightful appetizers to hearty mains, and crafty cocktails that add the perfect finishing touch, La Tavola is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Delicious food. Great service. Perfect atmosphere. The sauce with the rigatoni and veal meatballs was rich and amazing. I look forward to going back. Highly recommend.
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent drink! Amazing polenta appetizer - try it!! For dinner, pasta and meatballs, steak and mashed potatoes, green beans and broccoli rabe - delicious. The bread brought to the table was truly the best I've ever had - steaming hot, light, tasty with the crust wafer thin and PERFECTLY crispy.
Great food! Very cozy inside, great outdoor/veranda seating too. Well-coordinated and genuine staff. GET MEATBALLS. Grilled romaine salad is a smart pick. Flavors (5/5) Decor (5/5) Service (4.9/5)
Amazing food. Good lunch menu deals and cocktails are great they have a lovely deck area surrounded by glass that's so nice to sit in.
Came here for lunch on my one month wedding anniversary. Nice prices. Had ravioli with fig and prosciutto. I had a gin cocktail with black pepper, and we had some of the best tartufo I've ever had. Overall a really great place, highly recommended.
Maybe it's because I'm so used to atrocious city prices, but when I came in and saw that their cocktails were $11, I immediately ordered one. Turns out they were actually $9, probably because we came in during happy hour. Whatever the case, I ordered another drink. Their food was really good, I highly recommend their shrimp and lobster cocktail. It doesn't come with cocktail sauce though so make sure to ask them for some. Their complimentary bread was super crisp on the outside and soft on the inside - delicious with olive oil and pepper. Service was friendly, food was great. Definitely recommend.
Once again, I am reminded why I stay away from chain restaurants... because the local, one of a kind is so refreshing and enjoyable. From the friendliness of the wait staff to the truly different menu offerings, you will be happy and well satisfied with a meal at La Tavola! A friendly and well portioned Caesar’s salad and a Refreshing Lobster BLT..very nice!
Came here for the first time for restaurant week, but it won’t be the last! Love this place! Delicious food and super friendly service! Great cocktails too!
